One of my proudest moments as a volunteer was hearing a patient say the group helped her through a dark time.

Olivia Edelen

I am passionate about creating meaningful connections between patients, families, and care teams in hopes of increasing awareness, advancing research, and growing our program.

Those who know me may say that I am creative, optimistic, collaborative and an energized go-getter. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the Atlanta area with my husband and our toddler son, exercising with friends and family, and shoe shopping. I also love traveling.

No matter what I’m doing, I lead with my heart and my critical thinking skills. I hope to make my son proud by making a difference personally and professionally.

PH connection

My connection to pulmonary hypertension comes from my passion for supporting patients and my career. It’s one of the most meaningful roles I’ve taken on.

I volunteer as a PHA support group leader because I enjoy bringing people together and creating a space where they feel supported and connected. A colleague introduced me to the support group, and I knew it was the right place for me to give back.

One of my proudest moments as a volunteer was hearing a patient say the group helped her through a dark time. She said my invitation to join the group came at just the right moment_— it is something I’ll always cherish.

My favorite part of volunteering with PHA is connecting with patients and bringing a smile to their faces. It’s powerful and rewarding to remind them that they’re never alone.

Field trip

The Piedmont PHriends had an unforgettable gathering this summer in Atlanta. The group came together for a fun-filled and relaxing afternoon where creativity and community were connected. An incredible painting instructor guided the group members through a beautiful painting experience. Those feeling extra creative painted their very own masterpieces.

However, this special event wasn’t only about painting — it was about fostering connections and sharing stories. It provided an opportunity for everyone to meet members of the PH community from all over the Atlanta area.

From laughter to inspiring stories, that support group meeting was a massive success. It was the perfect mix of creativity, camaraderie and fun. It reminded us of how important it is to get together and support each other.

This was a special event for our support group to provide a relaxed and social environment for the PH community to enjoy a painting class, build relationships, and share a meal.
