O2 breathe™ Events
O2 breathe™ (pronounced oh-to-breathe) events are part of a national series of events sponsored by Actelion, Gilead, Bayer, United Therapeutics and CVS Specialty.
November 3: Monrovia O2 breathe PHun Walk and Run, Monrovia, Calif.
Joannie Gholar Yullie started the Monrovia PHun Walk and Run to spread PH awareness in her community. After she passed away from PH, her sister, Barbara Gholar, took the lead to organize the walk to honor Joannie and raise awareness about the rare disease. The walk has activities for the whole family, including a raffle, silent auction, health fair and Kids PHun Zone. November 3: Kansas City O2 breatheTM Fun Run and Walk, Parkville, Mo.
The greater Kansas City PH community has been connecting annually at the Kansas City O2 breatheTM Fun Run and Walk at English Landing Park in Parkville, Mo. The venue provides an ideal location for those interested in a 5K run or walk. November 3: Mission for a Cure 5K PHun Run and Walk, Mission, Texas
The sixth annual Mission for a Cure 5K PHun Run and Walk, organized by Margie Rodriguez, FNP-C, the Pulmonary & Sleep Center of the Valley, features an official-timed 5K run and a fun walk that gets started with a Zumba warm-up. To register for the event, visit www.O2breathe.org/Mission.
November 4: PHight for Life, Rochester, N.Y.
Tom and Jennifer Garigen started PHight for Life after their son, Tyler, was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), to bring the PH community together. The event provides a day of fun with kid-friendly activities, a silent auction, BBQ lunch and a panel of people with PH talking about their experiences. November 10: Zebra PHest 5K and Walk, Coppell, Texas
Zebra PHest is celebrating its twelfth year in 2018! This large community event features an official timed 5K run, a fun walk, kids activities and special features for people with PH. November 2: Zumbathon Fundraiser, Bay Shore, N.Y.
Join Wendy Mercado, adult with PH and Zumba instructor, for this fun event 6-8 p.m. EDT, at Bay Shore Middle School, 393 Brook Ave., Bay Shore, N.Y. Registration is $15 and can be paid at the door. November 2: Driving Fore a Cure for PH, Clayton, N.C.
Jayna and Matt Wall organize Driving Fore a Cure for PH each year in honor of their son, Jackson, a child with PH. This year marks the event’s sixth year. November 4: Michigan PH Support Group Luncheon, Novi, Mich.
The seventeenth annual Awareness Luncheon and Conference, to be held at the Four Points by Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel, is a statewide event that enables people with PH and caregivers in Michigan to join together to share information and learn from guest speakers. November 10: RunJonahRun, Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Sheri and Rich Guider lost their son, Jonah, to PH. They have dedicated themselves to raising awareness in their community and supporting the mission of PHA in memory of Jonah. This annual event features an official timed 5K run and walk. The route takes participants alongside a memorial garden created for Jonah at Blackman Elementary School.
