Help the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) provide expert patient care to those affected by pulmonary hypertension.
PHA-accredited Pulmonary Hypertension Care Centers offer specialized expertise in PH care, treatment and disease management. PH Care Centers are vital to our mission to extend and improve the lives of those affected by PH. Pulmonary Hypertension Care Centers offer specialized care that can enhance outcomes and quality of life.
“The PHCC program fosters the sharing of best practices and elevating all centers capabilities,” says Colleen Connor, PHA Board of Trustees secretary, who was diagnosed with PH in 2007.
Patients treated at PHA-accredited centers can enroll in the PHA Registry, a database of demographic characteristics, diagnosis and treatment information, and quality-of-life metrics. The registry collects information about patients usual care during regular visits with their PH care teams. More than 2,000 PH Care Center patients are enrolled in the registry.
Researchers use the database to learn more about PH. Each patient entry in the database potentially could lead to improvements in patient care, new treatments, earlier diagnosis or ultimately a cure. By studying data from the registry, researchers and clinicians can establish best practices and standards of care, facilitate research, conduct clinical trials for drug development, and advance new and improved treatments.
Studies using PHA Registry data have been published in 15 peer-reviewed publications, which Connor says contribute to research that is changing the landscape of PH treatment options.
By contributing to PHA’s quality care multi-year fundraising campaign, you support PH Care Centers and the PH Registry. Your gift will bolster care center operations, expand the registry database and increase data analysis to benefit the PH community.
