On May 5, the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) joined the international pulmonary hypertension community to celebrate World PH Day 2023. First recognized in 2012, World PH Day is a global day of PH awareness. For PHA and many other organizations, World PH Day is celebrated the entire month of May.

PHA’s World PH Day 2023 focus is “United to Cure PH,” which aims to recognize the global strides made in improving the lives of those affected by pulmonary hypertension and highlight the shared goal of finding a cure. To raise PH awareness, PHA and other global PH organizations are sharing social media posts that highlight common symptoms, important facts and associated conditions of PH.

While many of the World PH Day 2023 festivities will take place virtually, PHA hosted two in-person events on Saturday, May 6.

PHA visited the West Coast to host the PHA Connects: PH Community Workshop in San Diego on Saturday, May 6. During this free one-day educational workshop, attendees connected with other people with PH, caregivers, family members and health care professionals. They also attended general and breakout sessions focused on diagnosis and treatment, living with PH and disease management. At the end of the workshop, all attendees were invited to participate in a heart-shaped walk outside.

PHA also hosted Detroit-area O2breathe Walk on Saturday, May 6. The Detroit walk raised more than $6,500 to support PHA’s resources and services.
