PHA is committed to remaining vigilant and prioritizing the health of our community, which includes reminding attendees of in-person events about ways to stay safe and healthy.

In accordance with recommendations from PHA’s Scientific Leadership Council, PHA’s Respiratory Health Safety Policy for event* attendees, volunteers and staff strongly encourages the use of proven methods to prevent or stop the spread of the viruses.

Please follow these recommendations to protect yourself and your loved ones:

  • Vaccination: We urge all event participants to review PHA’s vaccine page and follow your health care provider’s recommendations. Annual COVID-19, flu, RSV and other vaccinations can protect against serious illness, hospitalization and death.
  • Negative test:  Attendees who show any symptoms (fever, cough, fatigue, loss of smell/taste, etc.) are urged to test for COVID-19 within 48 hours of the event. Many new tests will simultaneously check for flu. Only attendees who are symptom-free at the beginning of the event may attend. If you develop symptoms during the event, immediately isolate and test.
  • Masking and social distancing: Tight-fitting N95 or KN95 face masks have been effective in slowing down transmission of respiratory illnesses. We strongly encourage attendees to wear them during events and practice social distancing. PHA does not provide masks.

Virtual events may be an option. PHA may restrict or relax this policy based on viral activity at the time immediately before and during an event.

*PHA events consist of any meeting or gathering of patients, caregivers and/or health care professionals hosted, sponsored or sanctioned by PHA.
