The Bayer U.S. Patient Assistance Foundation helps people facing financial challenges get Bayer prescription medication, such as Adempas, at no cost. Bayer provides three programs to help people with pulmonary hypertension pay for Adempas:

  • Copay assistance
  • Temporary patient assistance
  • Patient assistance

Copay assistance

Bayer’s co-pay assistance program helps reduce out-of-pocket responsibility for eligible patients. The program covers up to 100% of co-pays or coinsurance, up to a certain amount per year, paid directly to the insurer.

To qualify, patients must have private commercial insurance with a percentage coinsurance or co-pay requirement. Medicare or Medicaid patients are ineligible. Patients in some states might not be eligible.

Patients must reapply for the program every year. They also must notify Bayer of if their insurance status changes.

Temporary patient assistance

This program can help cover medication costs in some situations when immediate coverage is temporarily unavailable. For example, a patient is waiting for a prior authorization appeal to be approved or waiting for coverage to begin.

The program also help some people who don’t have any insurance coverage or are underinsured (such as no prescription coverage, a benefits cap, coverage denial, etc.)

Patient assistance program

The Bayer U.S. Patient Assistance Foundation provides free medication for a year for eligible patients. In most cases, the year stars as soon as patients are accepted into the program. For eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries, the year begins on Jan. 1.

The program serves uninsured or underinsured people who meet certain criteria and don’t have other ways to pay for the medication.
