World PH Day Toolkit

The World PH Day toolkit offers messages, graphics and resources to raise awareness, spark action and show support for the PH community on May 5 and beyond.

Beginning on World PH Day, May 5, more than 80 pulmonary hypertension organizations across the globe will participate in an awareness campaign to advocate for greater access to PH diagnosis, treatment and care.

To support this effort, the Pulmonary Hypertension Association provides a digital toolkit with easy-to-translate materials you can use to amplify the campaign throughout May. Download the graphics and personalize the sample posts to share on your social channels.

Learn why clinical trials matter, how to participate, find opportunities and what questions to ask before enrolling.

  • Participating in Research

Advancing pulmonary hypertension research starts with people choosing to get involved. Whether you have PH or not, you can play a crucial role by participating in studies or enrolling in registries.

  • Clinical Trials

Clinical trials and research are essential to developing safe, effective treatments for pulmonary hypertension. By participating, you support discoveries that can improve care and outcomes for others.

  • What is clinical research?

In this 16-minute PHA Classroom video, Andrea Mytinger, D.O., explains different types of clinical research, the steps needed to complete a clinical trial and the importance of clinical research.

Hope in Every Trial

Clinical trials play an important role in advancing treatments by helping researchers better understand the condition and expand care options for patients. #WorldPHDay2026 raises awareness about clinical trials to address misconceptions and advance PH research. #HopeInEveryTrial

Schistosomiasis

Share these posts and graphics about schistosomiasis.

Facebook and LinkedIn: Schistosomiasis, a widespread parasitic disease, is the most common cause of pulmonary arterial hypertension in the developing world. Parasite eggs obstruct pulmonary arteries, which can cause a severe form of PH that affects about 20 million people worldwide, primarily in Africa and Asia. It’s most frequently contracted through fresh water for drinking, bathing or washing. #WorldPHDay2026

High altitude-related PH

Share these posts and graphics about PH related to living at high altitudes.

Facebook and LinkedIn: Those who live at higher altitudes could be at risk for developing Group 3 pulmonary hypertension from a shortage of oxygen. More than 140 million people worldwide live 10,000 feet (3,048 meters) or more above sea level. Living at those heights can constrict blood vessels, increasing strain on the right heart over time.  #WorldPHDay2026

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Share these posts and graphics about COPD.

Facebook and LinkedIn: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease restricts air flow in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. This is mostly caused by exposure to irritants that damage the lungs and airways. Pulmonary hypertension is a common complication of COPD due to the damage and changes COPD can cause to pulmonary artery vessels.  #WorldPHDay2026

Sleep apnea

Share these posts and graphics about how sleep apnea can worsen PH.

Facebook and LinkedIn: Sleep apnea is a potentially serious disorder that causes people to repeatedly stop and start breathing as they sleep. This can cause a shortage of oxygen or hypoxia in the lungs. Pulmonary pressures often worsen during sleep, making pulmonary hypertension a common complication of sleep apnea. #WorldPHDay2026

CTEPH

Share these posts and graphics about the risks of chronic blood clots in the lungs.

Facebook and LinkedIn: A pulmonary embolism is a blood clot that gets trapped in the lungs. People who have a history of PEs are at greater risk of developing more clots. New clots can cause high blood pressure in the lungs, or chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. #WorldPHDay2026

PH and sarcoidosis

Share these posts and graphics about PH caused by sarcoidosis.

Facebook and LinkedIn: Pulmonary hypertension is a serious complication of sarcoidosis, which has no known cause. The disease makes the immune system overact and develop clusters of inflamed tissue in various organs, including the lungs. Sarcoidosis most frequently affects African Americans, with women at higher risk. Sarcoidosis patients who have persistent, labored breathing should be screened for PH. #WorldPHDay2026
